Growing up on a council estate in Essex, Arthur worked hard, became a skilled carpenter, and built a successful business. Alongside that he rose to the very top of powerlifting — representing Great Britain for 27 years, competing in 12 World Championships, winning 4 world titles, 6 European titles, and 9 British titles.
